Types of Advanced Yoga

Types of Advanced Yoga

Yoga is becoming more and more popular in society, with new yoga studios opening up all over the country. While there are many different types of yoga that you can do, some are better for beginners while others are geared towards those who have been practicing for years.

In this blog post, we will discuss 6 types of advanced yoga, so that you know what to look out for when your interest starts to grow.

6 Types of Advanced Yoga

  • Ashtanga Yoga

Characterized by a set series of poses that are done in a specific order, Ashtanga Yoga is a more challenging form of yoga. If you are looking for a more intense workout, this might be the type of yoga for you.

Ashtanga yoga is intense and can be a great workout for those who are looking to push themselves.

  • Bikram Yoga

Also known as "Hot Yoga," Bikram Yoga is done in a room that is heated to 105 degrees Fahrenheit. This type of yoga is supposed to help you sweat out toxins, and is said to be very beneficial for your health.

  • Vinyasa/Power Yoga

This is another type of yoga that is more challenging and is characterized by flowing from one pose to the next. Power Yoga is a great way to build strength and flexibility.

If you are looking for a workout that will challenge you and help you increase your strength and flexibility, then Vinyasa or Power Yoga might be right for you.

  • Yin Yoga

Yin yoga is a slower-paced type of yoga that is focused on holding poses for longer periods of time. This type of yoga is said to be very beneficial for your mind and body.

The reason this type of yoga is classified as difficult is that you have stay in one position for, sometimes, up to 10 minutes. And all that while, your mind should be focussed on the asanas and shouldn't wander. Well, that's quite a challenge.

In this type of yoga, you will hold poses for longer periods of time to help build strength and flexibility.

  • Rocket Yoga

This type of yoga is a fast-paced form that is based on Ashtanga Yoga. If you are looking for a more challenging yoga experience, then Rocket Yoga might be perfect for you.

This type of yoga is intense and can be a great workout for those who are looking to push themselves.

  • Acro/Partner Yoga

While it may seem easy enough to do yoga on your own, the poses are much more challenging when you have a partner. This form of yoga is a unique experience that can sometimes be difficult for both partners because it’s so different from most other forms of yoga.

If you love trying new things and pushing yourself with new challenges, then Acro or Partner Yoga might be right for you.

Final Thoughts

These are just a few of the many types of advanced yoga that you can try. As your interest in yoga grows, be sure to research different types so that you can find the perfect one for you.
